Every commercial promises that the product it advertises will change our lives. We’ll feel better, look better, be better. And while we know that no new purchase will change us, sometimes we wish it would. Maybe this house/car/phone/book has the answer to life the universe and everything! God invites us to look to Him for true life but we keep taking our needs to things that can’t ever meet them. In Elijah’s time they were called idols and we still worship them today - they just go by different names.
