Week 3 of Songs for the Soul

Worship is a personal practice that gives meaning to our experiences. The songs of the bible give us the perspective of people whose experiences were normally excluded from the narrative. Women were normally uneducated and therefore excluded from writing the bible, but not from writing songs. Women have always been a great part of God’s story even when no one was writing it down. But luckily we get a short song in the bible from Mary about her personal testimony and we get to see the goodness of God through it. When Luke comes to Mary for her testimony she is ready with a song. A song she had probably sung a thousand times to anyone who would listen, probably just one song of many. Mary teaches us the beauty of sharing our testimony and singing our own song.
