Week 1 of Songs for the Soul

The response to wonder is to worship, which is what we see in Hannah’s story. Hannah prays for a son and God answers her prayer with not only what she wanted but with what she needed. She wanted a son but she really just needed to feel loved and valued in the kingdom of God. In her song, she praises God for his faithfulness in answering this prayer, but we also get to hear her sing the lessons she learned about God along the way. Her small story of answered prayer becomes the prayer of the entire nation of Israel. It’s a song about hope and awe at the creator of the universe. Hannah’s song teaches us that worship is not just about us, it’s about being in the kingdom of God that is bigger than us, it is about loving a God who is bigger than anything that we can imagine.
