Description

Do you really know God? John lays out a straightforward, yet challenging, litmus test for spiritual authenticity. 1 John 2:3 provides the theme for knowing if you are in God: "By this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments". True knowledge of God is personal, not merely academic or intellectual. Even demons know God exists, but that doesn't save them. Obedience is our response to God's righteousness and is His love language. The challenge is yielding control, moving past our desire to be "adult children" who negotiate the "gray" areas of sin. If you profess Christ but do not obey His Word, the hard statement is clear: you don't have fellowship with Him. Key Scripture: By this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments (1 John 2:3). Where are you choosing to negotiate the "gray" in your life? How does giving up control lead you back into the humble "kid space" of dependence on God?. Don't let rationalization be a pitfall. Come back tomorrow to see if John turns this frown upside down.
