Description

Having lived the experiences since I was a 3 year old the development of allowing "social justice" to bring equality and dignity into the life's of those considered "marginalized" and, in particular, the disabled.  This episode is a brief overview on the 25 year development started with the returning WW2 veterans, the groundwork done for the polio kids of the 50's and the move from the concept of "warehousing" marginalized individuals to a life of independent living, not institutionalization.  We also touch on the subject of "compartmentalization" of memories particularly of kids who grew up with trauma.  Suppressed memories were survival techniques now recognized as PTSD.  The current pandemic is now bursting dams of buried memories.   This episode is also available as a blog post: http://terrywiens.com/2022/01/22/pandemic-fugue/
