Identity is an important topic in our world, and we are constantly surrounded by all sorts of messages about who we are. Because what our culture has to say about our identity tends to be less than helpful, it is important to discover what God has to say about our identity.
Welcome to a new sermon series on the topic of our identity. This series will take us all the way through Paul's letter to the Ephesians, as we consider what God has to say about who we are. This week, we will explore Ephesians 1:1-14, which has a tremendous amount to say about who we are in Jesus Christ.
As you listen to this series, I encourage you to do two things. First, prayerfully ponder the question "Who am I?" and consider some of the many ways you could answer that question. Are any of your answers surprising? Do any of your answers seem to be at odds or in tension with each other? Which answers to this question do you consider to be most central to your identity?
Second, I encourage you to prayerfully read through Ephesians 1:1-14. What does God have to say about your identity? What do you find most surprising in these verses? Which aspect of your identity in Christ needs to receive more of your focus?
