This week on the pod, Abbie shares her experience of navigating parenting life with a neurodivergent lil' human! She discusses her family’s experience with attempting to obtain an autism diagnosis for her son, the ableism that many school and daycare providers often have, and the vulnerability it takes to advocate for a child during an individualized education plan (IEP) meeting. Abbie also briefly touches on the stigma that unfortunately still surrounds Autism and other diagnoses on the spectrum, and hopes this conversation encourages schools, fellow parents (and truly all adults) to embrace the different learning needs of others.
