Happy Monday guys!

Today we're speaking to the courageous British model and body positivity advocate, Sophie Louise Hughes. She got her start in the modelling industry at the age of 15 in the early 2000’s -  a time where beauty standards and success were equated with being thin, creating a toxic working environment.

Fast forward to Sophie at 25 years old and her life-changing moment where her nephew was born with a medical condition sending him into liver failure. Sophie quickly and selflessly stepped up to donate part of her liver to her nephew, ultimately saving his life (although she’ll say he saved hers)

Post-procedure Sophie was left with a seven-inch scar down her midriff and her weight increased as a side effect of the surgery.

While initially challenging to come to terms with her changing body, the scar forced her to rethink her perception of “perfection” and embrace her body. She found the body positivity movement on social media which kickstarted her self-love journey.

The experience propelled her into being a passionate body positivity advocate by also helping others feel confident exactly as they are and start their self-love journey.

She has since continued to be a huge success, modelling for many notable brands including ASOS, BOOHOO and Superdrug and affirming that all body types, sizes and shapes are beautiful -  demonstrating how the modelling industry has shifted to be more inclusive and redefined what beauty means.

In this episode, we speak to Sophie about the modelling industry, her pivotal experience with saving her nephew and embracing body positivity, living with endometriosis, and the importance of taking charge of your health - both physically and mentally.
