Graphics have been part of the gaming discourse since the 80s and 90s and, arguably, was the main fuel source for the console wars of that era. But in recent memory, have graphics really been that important for fans and gamers? We discuss our thoughts on the theory that gaming graphics have essentially plateaued and the industry’s continued chase for higher resolutions is unhealthy for the industry at large and we should shift our focus on other, more important aspects of development.
