It’s not often that a young man with strong ties to downtown Manteca gets moved to the Austin Rd countryside. But, today on the show my guest tells me that, he could hear the Friday night lights at Guss Schmiedt Field every Friday from his family home on Sheridan St. The noise, the sights, the grandeur of small-town Friday night high school gridiron action. Enough to evoke all kinds of thoughts from a young 12-year-old boy and that's why he was shocked to be displaced when his family moved to the country and that meant a change from Lincoln elementary to New Haven school and then to high school, East Union high school. The red and blue stronghold on Union road, this student, whose family has MHS Buffalo roots in sports history at MHS is now a Lancer. A big 6 foot 4-inch lancer who continued serving EU long after his time there. 29 years in fact and 31 years total and coaching. He is cherished to all, and is a memory to any Lancer in the past three decades. That is why this coach and teacher athlete standout is featured this week because he is a Manteca heavy-hitter.
