We did not all grow up the same. Although I come from a similar background as my peers, what was being taught in the home was a different experience.
Race has never been at the forefront of my child hood but colorism has, so in some way race has always played a part in how I conduct myself and my surroundings.
In this episode, I am breaking down the things I heard growing up, from my childhood friends and the military experience that I believe got me where I am today. A mother raising two biracial daughters, fighting for equality and black generational wealth.
