Chapter 3: Necessity of the Prayer of Petition
"(...) prayer is an absolutely necessary and universal means of salvation, for every one who prays as he should, will surely be able to keep all the commandments of God, to avoid sin, to practise all the Christian virtues and persevere unto death in the grace of God and thus reach his place in Heaven. On the other hand, he who neglects prayer, will not be able to keep all the commandments of God, to overcome difficult and strong temptations, to avoid grievous sin, to obtain the forgiveness of his sins, or to persevere in divine grace until death. This will now be made plain to the attentive and reflecting reader, for prayer is absolutely necessary for both the sinner and the just."
