सुहागिनें मंगलसूत्र क्यों पहनती हैं?
हिन्दू धर्म में विवाह के अवसर पर वर (दूल्हा) द्वारा वधू (दुल्हन) के गले में मंगलसूत्र पहनाया जाता है। मंगलसूत्र में काले रंग के मोतियों की लड़ी, मोर एवं लॉकेट होता है। ऐसी मान्यता है कि काले रंग के मोती स्त्री को प्रत्येक अशुभता एवं बुरी नज़र से बचते हैं जबकि मोर पति के प्रति प्रेम, विश्वास और श्रद्धा का प्रतीक है। इसी प्रकार लॉकेट को अमंगल के निवारण एवं पति की सुरक्षा का द्योतक तक कहा गया है।
मंगलसूत्र जहां स्त्री को अनेक प्रकार से सुरक्षा प्रदान करता है, वहीं उसकी शारीरिक ऊर्जा का शमन होने से भी रोकता है। संभवत: 'मंगली दोष' की निवृत्ति के लिए मंगलसूत्र को स्त्री द्वारा धारण करने का विधान बनाया गया। यही कारण है कि सप्तपदी से ज्यादा मंगलसूत्र का महत्व है। अनेक स्थानों पर वधू को मंगलसूत्र पहनाए बिना विवाह को अधूरा मानते हैं।
Why do married women wear mangalsutra?
In Hindu religion, on the occasion of marriage, the mangalsutra is worn by the bride (groom) around the neck of the bride (bride). The mangalsutra consists of a string of pearls of black color, a peacock and a locket. It is believed that black colored pearls protect a woman from all evil and evil eyes while peacock is a symbol of love, trust and reverence for her husband. Similarly, the locket has been said to be a symbol of prevention of evil and protection of husband.
While the mangalsutra provides protection to the woman in many ways, it also prevents the suppression of her physical energy. Possibly for the retirement of 'Mangli Dosha', a law was made to wear Mangalsutra by a woman. This is the reason why Mangalsutra is more important than Saptapadi. In many places, the marriage is considered incomplete without the bride wearing a mangalsutra.
