Description

This is a special episode recorded in English during the last meeting of the Corruption Hunter Network in Slovenia in April 2023. I was deeply privileged to gather the testimonies of 7 anti-corruption prosecutors from Africa, Europe, and Latin America.

The Corruption Hunter Network is an informal gathering of anti-corruption prosecutors from around the world. It was launched in 2005 with the support of Eva Joly and Norad, the Norwegian development agency (3:17). The network provides a safe space for prosecutors to share their stories, experiences, and challenges in investigating and prosecuting corruption cases. They tell us why they value so much the network (11:47). The prosecutors I interviewed also explain what the major obstacles are when investigating a corruption case (21:47). Being an anti-corruption prosecutor is a lonely job and can be dangerous (31:03). They face all sort of threats, including smear campaigns on social media, arrest, internal investigation, and murder. You will hear what keep them going despite all these challenges (37:25). They also tell us why the support of the public is essential to combat corruption (45:50).
