The Keystone XL Pipeline is a massive project, first proposed by an energy infrastructure company, TransCanada, back in 2008. It is a pipeline designed to transport the dirtiest fossil fuel to the market very fast, and increase capacity to process some 168 million barrels of crude oil from Canada’s boreal forest. Essentially, this massive project would be able to precisely transport 338,000 barrels of nasty Alberta tar sands oil daily to other refineries on the Texas Gulf Coast.
In this episode, I interview Rebekah Hinojosa, member of “Another Gulf is Possible Collaborative.” Rebekah gives us some insight into the more negative aspects of this project and how it affects communities and the environment in general.
