Ethiopia’s northern Tigray region has been at the centre of a conflict with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s government since 2020.
Although the Tigray forces (Tigray Liberation People’s Forces - TPLF) were seen to be on the verge of taking Addis Ababa, Abiy Ahmed on 28 November 2021 announced victory over Tigray.
