Bethlehem The Vocussionist | Talks D'angelo, Spirituality & Performance, Almost Going To The Navy

Bethlehem Roberson is an experienced writer, vocalist and recording artist. She is regionally known for her works as a Vocussionist, which is a term she created that infuses both vocal performance and bodily percussion using a Tarima (a percussive wooden box) creating a unique sound that blends rhythmic acoustics with the human voice.   She has been featured on a wide range of platforms including TEDxPhiladelphia (TED Talks), Fox 29, Philly CAM, WRTI Temple Radio and WXPN. Her music has also led to special collaborations with notable arts institutions including the Wilma Theater, the Philadelphia Folk Society, the Philadelphia Jazz Project and Sistahs Attune. On Juneteenth (June 19th) in the midst of the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, she released a filmed creative performance on Youtube entitled #WHOAMI, which focuses on her journey of self-discovery beyond the limits of external labels and attachments. She is also a native Philadelphia resident who is proud to be an artist in such a vibrant community.
