Description

In this episode, we look at the life and career of Darrin Morris, a fighter who is infamously known for being ranked in the top 10 by the WBO, even though he had been dead for 1 year! Despite the rankings fiasco, we found a fighter who had a very good career and whose achievements in the ring have been somewhat forgotten. His death at the age of 34 of HIV related meningitis raised concerns about medical regulations in boxing and we discuss this. Finally, we look at a whether or not the rankings system used in boxing has improved and use a couple of contemporary examples (one involves Anthony Joshua and Charles Martin) for comparison. We think this episode is a gem and that you should listen based on the title alone! Enjoy. SFX from Freesound.org by 18hiltc & benboncan
