It’s halftime yall! Interracial Relationship commitments half-time, to be precise! We tackled pre-gaming and game time when entering into an interracial or intercultural relationship - and now that you are in it and navigating the highs, lows, and middle ground; guess what - “It’s Half-Time”! Time to re-evaluate, re-commit, re-connect, review situations, re-new, respond to friends & families and re-route if needed. Relationships are absolutely no joke and both parties must put in the work! Take the everyday stress of relationships, the woes, and the constant work and add the interracial/intercultural element to it, and the work doubles, sometimes triples, and may even stall. But it’s half-time - so let's get into it!
It’s time to take that deep dive into your values. We know that some conversations probably happened prior to the commitment. But as we know it's one thing to discuss it and another when execution time starts. Did those cultural values stay in tack? Or did one of you compromise? Or did those different values cause a noticeable upset within the relationship? Were you able to really work through it? These discussions become robust at the half-time point and for some even sooner. What happens during the height of the racial divide? How will your interracial relationship survive? This is how - through Honesty, Transparency, Communication, and most of all Respect!
