We know, We know - you’re thinking, ‘who are they referring to, with this, “You People” bullcrap! Hey! It’s not what you think and it’s everything you think. We are deep diving into the recently released movie on Netflix, “You People”! This movie takes a plunge into interracial dating from all sides - color, culture, religion, beliefs, family, outside interferences, friends, and just plain ignorance about the treatment of each other's cultural lifestyles. Bonus: There are beautiful references to Nipsey Hussle throughout the movie.
This movie tackles differences and comparisons within a newly found love between a white Jewish male and a black Muslim female. The lengths that each of their parents goes to ensure their respective child is making the right decisions are funny, emotional & sometimes very awkward. But are they doing too much? Are they going too far? We light-heartedly dissect a few scenes, while comparing our own interracial relationship journey.
If you haven't seen the movie, then you should definitely treat yourself. This movie has a comedic spin to some of the most needed courageous conversations that should be happening within an interracial relationship. Conversations that should be happening, prior to the huge next step of true commitment. Let’s get into it!
