One of the most important things you can do for yourself is to start off your clinical career learning proper ergonomics and patient/operator positioning. There are specific positions that clinicians need to consider when working in the clinical setting to maintain good ergonomics while providing patient care. Having foundational skills of proper operator and patient positioning ensures the clinician that they will be able to provide care in a way that meets the needs of the patient and the clinician. There are circumstances that create challenges for ideal patient/operator positioning. These circumstances will happen which makes it even more important to follow good ergonomics whenever possible.
