Description

On this episode of the podcast, we spoke with Kailey Albert. During our conversation, Kailey spoke about the idea that “god is big enough for your questions”.

Ironically, Kailey was taught this idea as a child, yet when she began to ask questions concerning her faith, she was made to feel guilty.

She was constantly at odds with her Church’s perspective on the LGBTQ+ community. This made her feel less accepted as a Christian within the church.

This experience led her to seek out a church across the world: Hillsong, located in Australia. It was here that she hoped to find a Christian community that might be more accepting of her questions.

Unfortunately, she didn’t find acceptance at Hillsong either.

However, during her time there, one of her professors passed along the idea of “getting in the arena” – taking action on a cause that one felt passionate about, no matter what it was.

Kailey, still grappling with her thoughts on the Church’s treatment of the LGBTQ+ community, decided she would dedicate herself to being an ally.

Kailey shows us that if you truly believe in a cause, fight for it. Get in the arena. Always ask questions.

It’s okay to grow and change, and if someone makes you feel guilty for that, it doesn’t help anyone.
