Description

On this episode of the podcast, we spoke with Severance Barrineau. Seve is earning his degree in music performance at FSU. Seve is incredibly proficient on the drums, and he surrounds himself with music every single day.

Our conversation with him touched on music theory, in which we only skimmed the surface on composing drum parts, why jazz is the most American genre of music, and how music is really another language.

We’ve all heard that before, but its true for Seve. However, he sees music, and art in general, as being “respected on another level”. To him, music is a way to elevate people physically and emotionally in a way normal conversation can’t.

Seve takes the spirit of performance and tries to transfer its energy into everything he does to elevate the lives of those around him.

He reminds us of an important idea that relates to every pursuit in life: Everyone is going to have a bad show…but you have to find a direction and keep moving.
