On this episode of the podcast, we spoke with Abbie Brown. Abbie is currently earning her undergraduate degree in psychology, with a goal to become a therapist. During the episode, we talked about a number of subjects related to mental health – such as why its so important for teens to try therapy, and the roles of a therapist vs. a psychiatrist, and the dangers of overusing sensitive terms related to mental health in our everyday language.
Something that shone through Abbie’s conversation about mental health was the idea that everyone should face their fears. While this might be an old cliche, it rings true when it comes to mental health. It take courage to go to therapy in the first place, but Abbie reminds us that once you’ve taken steps to figure out your own mental health, it takes even more courage to create new boundaries that allow you to maintain a good mindset, and even more to stand up for any boundaries that might be crossed.
Abbie believes everyone can benefit from therapy, and everyone can become a stronger individual in doing so.
