"A Declaration of Divine Majesty"
Daniel 4:2-3
New Living Translation
2 “I want you all to know about the miraculous signs and wonders the Most High God has performed for me. 3 How great are his signs, how powerful his wonders! His kingdom will last forever, his rule through all generations.
Chapter 4 brought a change in tone from King Nebuchadnezzar. He was delighted to send a letter to everyone in his kingdom, telling them about what God had done for him!
He couldn’t help but break into praise. This king, whom we had previously seen as being arrogant and proud, was describing God as great, mighty, powerful, and eternal. King
Nebuchadnezzar couldn’t help but let everyone know.
Though the king praised the King of Kings, God still had more to teach Nebuchadnezzar. A short time later, God sent another dream to the king, and it terrified him. Because this dream was from God, the false wise men were unable to interpret it.
Enter Daniel. He was now most likely in his late 30s or 40s, but he remained a faithful servant of God. Daniel was brave enough to tell the king the meaning of the dream, which God
was intending to humble Nebuchadnezzar. For all humans, God must bring us all to a humble state in order to rightfully understand who He is and who we are in light of His holiness. We aren’t perfect, but He is. Each of us must come to realize that the punishment we deserve for our sin is separation from God. Yet, God loves us he pay the debt of our sin. It is a debt we cannot pay. By His grace through faith, we can humbly receive forgiveness from Him.
What’s better is that our salvation doesn’t stop there. God lovingly adopts us as His children, gives us the Holy Spirit, transforms our days, and provides eternally for our future.
This good news is worth sharing! God calls us to be ready at all times to share the hope we have in Him. Who is God calling you to share the good news of the Gospel with today?
