Daily Devotion:
"A New Steps of Confidence"
Matthew 14:29
Jesus said, "Come" And Peter left the boat and walked on the water to Jesus.
Nothing can rob you of joy, confidence, optimism, and opportunities more quickly than a spirit of fear.
Behavioral scientists have long debated whether the first emotion a baby experiences is love or fear. Because of the “startle reflex,” many researchers believe it is the latter.
When faced with danger, the two foundational responses that appear to be “hard-wired” into the human psyche are fight or flight. So are you a fight or a flight person? There are many sources of fear. Some are unreasonable (to everyone else but the persons experiencing them!), and are considered unhealthy phobias. But whatever the source a sense of the unknown, the future, physical danger, spiritual warfare, financial crises, or reputation issues-fear is real and must be faced honestly. One of the greatest promises of God is that we don't have to face our fears alone. He is always with us; never will He forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). In fact, when we truly Experience His love, fear is cast away (1 John 4:18). Why? Love is what must be present for trust to flourish. So remember, if you fear- the past, God makes all things new (2 Corinthians 5:17); ·the future, God has promised you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11); ·enemies, God will protect and keep you (Deuteronomy 31:6); ·financial problems, God will provide for your every need (Philippians 4:19); death and dying, God has conquered the power of death and promises eternal life (Romans 8:1-2).
Are you ready to walk boldly, with a new sense of confidence today? Take a few steps, even if they're baby steps, toward God and let Him handle all the anxieties that trouble you.
