Daily Devotion:

"A Song of Steadfast Hope"

Psalm 59:16

New Living Translation

16 But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress.

I can do it!” bellows your toddler as you start digging a trench in the garden, so you seize the teachable moment and let her try, even though you know the job is too big for her. She'sa determined one, often able to do what she sets her mind to do, but this time the chore is too much. Finally she asks you to help, and as you take the trowel from her hands, she relaxes, never giving it another thought. Author Corrie ten Boom wrote about how to handle our own powerlessness: turn to the power of Jesus. We, like children, can relinquish control and relax into Jesus' ability when faced with an impossible task. We might still have to involve ourselves in the situation, but admitting our incompetence and placing it all in His hands will restore our joy.

If you've been banging your head against the wall, let Jesus take over your dilemma, and refuse to fret about it any longer. Be confident in His ability, and your joy will be renewed.
