“Abundant Life in Christ: Rejecting the Thief”

John 10:10

New Living Translation

10 The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.

In John 10:10, Jesus states, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." This verse highlights the stark contrast between the intentions of the evil one and the purpose of Christ. The "thief" represents Satan, whose aim is to lead us away from God and into destruction. In contrast, Jesus offers abundant life—a life filled with purpose, joy, and spiritual fulfillment.

This abundant life is not merely about material wealth or worldly success; it is about a deep, personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He desires us to thrive spiritually, emotionally, and relationally. As believers, we are called to live in this fullness, reflecting His love and grace to those around us (Ephesians 3:20).

As we embrace the life Jesus offers, we are encouraged to reject the destructive influences of sin and temptation. Through prayer, scripture, and fellowship, we can grow in our faith and experience the richness of His abundant life.
