Daily Devotion:
"Building Bridges for Peace"
Psalm 122:8-9
New Living Translation
8 For the sake of my family and friends, I will say, “May you have peace.”9 For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek what is best for you, O Jerusalem.
Psalm 122:8-9 (NIV) states, “For the sake of my family and friends, I will say, ‘Peace be within you.’ For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your prosperity.” This
passage emphasizes the importance of community and the spiritual well-being of our loved ones. In this Psalm, David speaks of his deep love for Jerusalem, representing not just a city, but the dwelling place of God. His commitment to
praying for peace reflects the heart of God’s people who are called to intercede for their community and church. Just as David sought the prosperity of Jerusalem, we are called to seek the welfare of our families and churches, recognizing that their peace affects our own.
As we gather in fellowship, we are reminded that our prayers for others can lead to blessings and peace in our lives. Let's take this message to heart, committing to uplift our
communities and families in prayer, just as David did for Jerusalem.
