"Close to the Brokenhearted: God's Promise of Deliverance"
Psalm 34:17-18
New Living Translation
17 The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles.18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.
Psalm 34:17-18 states, “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who arecrushed in spirit.” In these verses, we find profound comfort and reassurance about God's nature in our times of distress. The psalmist emphasizes that the righteous, those who seek to live in accordance with God's will, can cry out to Him, and He will respond. The assurance that God hears our cries is a powerful reminder of His omnipresence and His compassionate heart.
Verse 18 highlights God's closeness to the brokenhearted. In our lives, we often experience heartache, whether from loss, betrayal, or unmet expectations. Yet, this scripture assuresus that even in our deepest pain, God is near, offering salvation and solace.
As followers of Christ, we are called to trust in His promises, knowing that He delivers us from our troubles. Let us hold on to that hope and encourage one another during tough times, reminding ourselves and others of God's unwavering love and support.
