37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
When is the last time you felt like a conqueror? It's easy to focus on our failings and forget that we've been given victory over the things of this world. Satan would love nothing more than for Christ followers to walk around with our headshanging and our hearts heavy. He wants us to believe that we're defeated and forget that, through Christ, we're “more than conquerors.”
Whether through beating an opposing sports team or kicking a bad habit, there's joy in victory. In order to walk daily in a spirit of joy, we must remind ourselves that Christ has given us the victory. We don't have to listen to the enemy when he whispers reminders of past failures in our ears.
The next time discouragement or despair attempts to take over your spirit, look into a mirror. Look yourself in the eye and be reminded that you're more than a conqueror, and victory looks really good on you. There's no joy quite like thejoy of the victorious.
