Daily Devotion:
"Diligent Confirmation of Calling and Election"
2 Peter 1:10
New Living Translation
10 So, dear brothers and sisters, [a] work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away.
After God has elected you and you are appointed to His office, the work begins! Now you must make decisionsyou have never made before and act in ways that you have never before. Your speech and public display must be different. You now must develop goals and find ways to achieve them. The expectations from your elector are high. As you begin to work in your elected capacity remember “with great power comes great responsibility. "Believe in yourself and your ability to complete your task at hand while keeping in thought that you are elected because you can dothe job. Along the way there will be obstacles and you will feel that what you are doing is useless or that there is no gain.
When you begin to feel this way, do not give up, but rather continue to work, being confident that, “He who began a great work in you, called you and elected you will perform it until the end." (Philippians 1:6 NIV) He will not leave you nor for sake you. Do not be cast down, rather, put your hope in God. “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” (Ephesians 6:10 KJV) “Be on your guard; stand firm in thefaith, be courageous, be strong.” (1 Corinthians16:13 NIV) “Do not be weary for in due season you shall reap if you faint not.” (Galatians 6:9 NIV) “...Run that ye may obtain the prize." 1 Corinthians 9:24 (KJV), and as you do so, see the finish line.
You have been given a mandate to be steadfast and unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord.(1Corinthians 15:58 NIV) Stand your ground, work as hard as you can for Jesus while being confident that nothing you do for Him is a waste of time or effort. You shall stand because God has promised an expected end.
