Daily Devotion:
"Embracing Today"
Matthew 6:34
New Living Translation
34 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.
It's confession time: raise your hand if you're a worrier. If you're like many people, you raised your hand, so let's talk about It. Worry isn't a fruit of The Spirit. This means that, when we choose worry, we are saying, “No, thank You” to the Spirit's fruit, which happens to include joy. Let's be honest-no one sits around worrying about tomorrow with a heart full of joy. Worry and joy do not Co exist.
Let's choose to live joyfully by choosing to focus on today. God is already handling tomorrow, next week, and next year. We don't have to worry about them. Through Christ, we haveeverything we need to handle today with peace, patience, and joy. When we pick up the burden of worrying about tomorrow, we are choosing to set aside the joy for today because we can't carry both. Surely you would much rather have joy. Let's focus on the joys of today and trust God with the worries of tomorrow.
