Daily Devotion:

“Give Thanks”

Daniel 6:10-12

New International Version

10 Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the
windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.

If someone followed you around to see if they could find anything wrong against you, would they? Because we are Christians, people are watching how we live. They want to see if what we say and what we do match. If God is prompting you about an area of your life that needs to change, take it to him. Pray for forgiveness and for the
wisdom and strength to live differently.

Daniel lived to a very high standard. He was a man of integrity. With wicked motives, the men set an unchangeable law, which went directly against God’s law. They flattered King Darius into signing it into law.

Daniel knew about the decree and did not even close the windows! He went to his home and prayed as he always
did, three times a day. Honoring God overruled the laws of men. Daniel did not fear what man could do to him. Rather, he had a healthy fear of the power of the Lord. Does a fear of people – and their possible response – stop you from
sharing about God with them? Do you desire the friendship of someone so much that you don’t want to risk losing that person if you speak about Jesus, the only one who could save them? May our love for God override any fears that may keep us from sharing this love boldly.
