Daily Devotion:

"Glory to God Alone"

Psalm 115:1-3

New International Version

1 Not to us, Lord, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness. 2 Why do the nations saying “Where is their God?” Our God is in heaven; he does whatever pleases him.

Even if you aren't a control freak, we all like to think we have things somewhat under control. The idea that we're in control brings a false sense of security that we cling to because it makes life seem a little less scary. Unfortunately, at some point, it becomes painfully obvious how little control one person really has in the grand scheme of things.

Attempting to maintain control of everything in life is a stressful way to live. People were never meant to carry that weight on their shoulders. Children have few responsibilities until they get older because a young child can't handle thestress of adult responsibilities. Likewise, we can't handle the stress of God's responsibilities.

God is in heaven and He does whatever pleases Him. He has everything under control. There isn't any fear in relinquishing control; there is freedom and joy. We can let go of the facade of control and rejoice, knowing that God truly is in control.
