"God is Working Behind the Scenes"
Romans 8:28
New International Version
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
No one has to tell us that this world is full of trouble and pain. Scripture itself tells us that suffering should come as no surprise to Christians the very same Christians for whom all things, says Paul, are supposed to work together for good! The Fact that suffering is not good in and of itself does not rule out the possibility that there might actually be much good in suffering. Or, at the least, that good can emerge out of suffering, and even that God might well use suffering as a means of bringing about the very good he intends. (Did he not cause Israel to suffer in order to bring about her redemption?)
We are not promised that because we are Christians life will be good or even that everything will turn out good in the long run. What we are promised is that whether we experienced good or the most horrible thing imaginable, God is working behind the scenes to bring about a good that we might never fully appreciate on this side of heaven.
The difficult question is: Do I fully trust that God is bringing about good even in the most dire circumstance I might face?
