"God's Judgment on Eli's House"

1 Samuel 3:10-12

New Century Version

10 The Lord came and stood there and called as he had before, “Samuel, Samuel!”. Samuel said, “Speak, Lord. I am your servant and I am listening.” 11 The Lord said to Samuel, “Watch, I am going to do something in Israel that will shockthose who hear about it. 12 At that time I will do to Eli and his family everything I promised, from beginning to end.

How does it feel when someone ignores you? Have you ever had a relationship where you were always the one making contact? A person doesn't feel very important or valued if the communication only goes one way. On the other hand, how special do you feel when someone takes the time to call you by name and speak to you?

As believers, we have the privilege of communication with God Himself. It's. not one-sided, and He never ignores us or tunes us out. We find joy in knowing that God takes the time to speak to us and that He doesn't give up on us. We justneed to be faithful to listen because our God is faithful to speak.

Think about the joy that comes when you spend time in intimate conversation with a dear friend. Now, imagine the joy that will come if you will take the time to listen to the God of the universe speak.
