"God's Voice"
Isaiah 30:21
New International Version
21 Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”
How do we hear God's voice? It is not usually an audible voice, but a still, small voice in our spirit that causes us to know what to do. Elijah made many attempts to hear from God in a time of turmoil in his life, but not until he got still and waited on God Did he hear that beautiful “still, small voice” giving him direction. The NIV says that he heard a “gentle whisper.” Regardless of how it's translated, it was not a loud, booming, boisterous voice. It was quiet, and Elijah had to be still and quiet in order to hear it. In order to be your unique self, it is important for you to know that you can be guided by God. He will put desires in your heart, and they may not make sense to anyone but' you. This is why you can't let other people tell you what to do with your life. It is your life, given to you as a gift from God. He has gifted you in a way that will allow you to fit into His perfect plan, but only if you follow Him and refuse to let the demands and pressures of other people control you.
People who don't follow they're hearts are never happy. They Live frustrated, disappointing lives. Be courageous enough to be true to yourself, and the people who genuinely love you will stick with you even if you don't do what they think you should do.
