"Greatest Disappointments to become Precious Fruitful Gift… "
Isaiah 47:13
New International Version
13 All the counsel you have received has only worn you out! Let your astrologers come forward, those stargazers who make predictions month by month, let them save you from what is coming upon you.
This is one of several analogies Isaiah uses to predict Israel's fruitful restoration following the barrenness of exile. In the midst of her banishment, Israel will feel like a barren woman with no hope of fulfillment or progeny. But the Lord already knows the “offspring" he will bring forth from that barren womb, including first and foremost Jesus, the Messiah, through whom countless millions will be given a spiritual birth they otherwise could not have had. There is more than mere analogy here. It truly is about all those whose lives, in whatever way, seem barren and unfulfilled. Whatever personal loss we feel may yet be God's way of replenishing righteousness on the earth!
The fulfilling question is: Am I willing to allow my greatest disappointment to become a precious, fruitful gift?
