Daily Devotion:
"Hospitality Without Complaint"
1 Peter 4:9
English Standard Version
9 Show hospitality to one another without grumbling.
Do you know people who possess the gift of hospitality? Their guest rooms feel like a sanctuary, they have an open-door policy, and they are always having company for dinner. Meanwhile, you hold your breath when someone rings the doorbell and pray they don't hear your television and know you're home.
While some may have the gift of hospitality, we all have the scriptural command to be hospitable. In Paul's letter to the saints in Rome, he listed hospitality as one of the marks of atrue Christian (Romans 12:13). Peter instructed his readers to show hospitality even though they were all living in exile (1 Peter 1:1)! Using what you have-whether a lot or a little-to minister to others will always bring you joy. If you're living the life you always dreamed of, or if you wonder where it allwent off track, showing hospitality is still the Lord's will, and there is always joy for those obedient to His will.
