Daily Devotion:
"Prepare for the Ark's Journey"
1 Chronicles 15:15-16
New Living Translation 15
Then the Levites carried the Ark of God on their shoulders with its carrying poles, just as the Lord had instructed Moses. 16 David also ordered the Levite leaders to appoint a choir of Levites who were singers and musicians to sing joyful songs to the accompaniment of harps, lyres, and cymbals.
Have you ever attended a church service where the praise and worship time was, well, boring? In many churches, the congregation seems reluctant to join in, singing either very softly or not at all, as if worship is, something only the choir isqualified to do. There's no joy, and there doesn't appear to be any true worship.
This is not how God has directed us to worship. We're to worship Him with our whole hearts, with sincerity, and with joy. Several times in the Bible, we're told to “make a joyful noise” to the Lord (Psalm 95:1-2; 98:4,6; 100:1 Esv). And in thedevotion verse, we're told to worship by using a variety of musical instruments. If you pour your heart out to God during worship time (or even when you're home alone), you'll find your heart being filled with the joy of the Lord.
