Daily Devotion:
"Prioritizing the Kingdom: A Call to Seek First"
Matthew 6:33
New Living Translation
33 Seek the Kingdom of God[a] above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
In Matthew 6:33, Jesus instructs us, "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." This verse emphasizes the priority of our lives: seeking God’s kingdom above all else. In the context of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus addresses concerns about material needs and anxiety (Matthew 6:25-32). He reassures us that God knows our needs and will
provide if we prioritize Him.
To "seek first" means to make God's will our foremost desire. It calls us to align our lives with His purposes, reflecting a heart devoted to spiritual growth and righteousness. This doesn't mean neglecting our responsibilities; rather, it
encourages a faith-filled approach to life’s challenges, trusting in God’s provision.
As we start our weekend, let us reflect on this truth. Are we genuinely prioritizing God in our daily lives, or are we distracted by worldly concerns? Let us pray for wisdom to seek His kingdom first, trusting that He will guide and provide for us.
