Daily Devotion:
"Rejoicing in Our Savior"
Luke 1:46-47
New Living Translation
46 Mary responded, “Oh, how my soul praises the Lord. 47 How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior!
In Luke 1:46-47, we find Mary’s beautiful song of praise, often referred to as the Magnificat: “And Mary said: 'My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.'”
This passage reveals Mary's profound faith and recognition of God's greatness. Her response comes after the angel Gabriel announces she will bear Jesus (as God's manifestation) highlighting her humility and willingness to serve.
Mary’s song illustrates the essence of worship: glorifying God. She acknowledges God as her Savior, which emphasizes the necessity of salvation for all humanity (Luke 1:47). This reminds us that, like Mary, we should rejoice in God's promises and grace, especially in challenging times. Her example teaches us to maintain a heart of gratitude and trust in God’s plan.
As we reflect on this passage, consider how we can glorify God in our daily lives. Do we recognize His work and mercy? Through prayer and worship, we express our gratitude, much
like Mary.
