"Serving and Caring"
JOHN 13:12-17
New International Version
12 When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you he asked them. 13 “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.
Why Should we serve others? 1. Because it's love in action 2. It benefits others, and in God's kingdom, we exist for others. Jesus modelled it and told us to do it. 3. God blesses us when we serve others 4. Jesus said that it is more of a blessing to give than it is to receive . How should we serve people? We should serve people out of love. Let's remember who we are in Christ, and who Christ is in us. Knowing this enables us to humble ourselves before others. We should find practical, even lowly, ways of serving others.
Where can you serve? Opportunities are everywhere at home, at school, at work, at church, in the community. Every day tell God you are available to serve and then keep your eyes open for the opportunities he gives.
