“Spiritual Hunger”
Matthew 5:6
New Living Translation
6 God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied.
A paradox is a statement that's true even though it seems contradictory: When we try to explain this wonderful God we serve, we find that our description is filled with paradoxes: He makes us free when we surrender our whole lives to Him; He requires us to die to ourselves in order to gain life; He teaches us that true wealth is available only to those who willingly give everything away. Here's another one: the only way to maintain a holy hunger for God is to keep filling up on Him.
When we eat as much as we want of a meal, we say we're full and: "more than satisfied. "We had an empty spot in our belly, and now it's filled. The satisfaction that God gives: us is different. The more we pursue Him, the more He satisfies us, and the more we long for Him! The whole cycle sounds illogical but brings us great joy. To be filled with God while also hungry for God is a wonderful, life-giving, joyful paradox.
