Daily Devotion:
"The Anointed One…"
Zechariah 4:6
New International Version
6 So he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.
For those of us who believe, the question is not what God can do but what he will do, or perhaps does do. Could the answer to that question lie in the particular task at hand? Whereas God might leave us to our own devices to accomplish goals of our own making, of one thing we can be sure: If the task ahead is God's own plan, there is no way that we can fail! Does God's temple need to be rebuilt? It will happen! As will any other daunting task to Which Good might call us. To think that we've got to dream up powerful schemes to further God's kingdom is to forget that all God needs is one or two “who are anointed to serve the Lord of all the earth"!
The daunting question is: Might I myself be one of those "one or two" through whom God's Spirit might even now be moving mightily to accomplish some seemingly impossible task?
