Daily Devotion:
"The Comfort of God's Justice"
Psalm 10:17-18
New Living Translation
17 Lord, you know the hopes of the helpless. Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them. 18 You will bring justice to the orphans and the oppressed, so mere people can no longer terrify them.
Did you grow up without a father or mother? Have you had to suffer many trials, tribulations, and sorrows? Rejoice! Why should you rejoice in the face of heartbreaking troubles?Because the Lord, your God, is your own faithful Defender. What more could you ask than to have the most powerful, tireless, and effective Advocate in the entire universe?
These words from Psalm 10 specify that God has a particularly warm spot in His great heart for the one who grew up without one or both parents, or who has suffered, or is even now suffering. God sees what we're going through. Don't forget, Jesus walked the earth as both fully God and fully man, and He felt every pain we experience. He knew physical pain, rejection, cold, heat, hunger, thirst, loneliness, frustration, torture - He experienced it all. Is it any wonder that He stands as our Advocate, ready to defend us and to bring justice? What joy we can take from that knowledge!
