"The Danger of Self Confidence”
Matthew 26:34-35
New International Version
34 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “this very night, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.” 35 But Peter declared, “Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you.” And all the other disciples said the same.
When Jesus predicts Peter’s denial of Him, Peter is self-confident and vehemently disregards the prediction. However, Jesus’ prediction comes to pass, and Peter is very sorrowful and repentant. What great failure has discouraged you from following Jesus wholeheartedly? God knows our flaws and weaknesses. He is not surprised
or shocked when we fail Him. His forgiveness, reconciliation, and restoration is readily available when we turn away from our sin and seek Him.
