“The Gift of God and The Futility of Earthly Wealth”
Ecclesiastes 2:26

26 God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy to those who please him. But if a sinner becomes wealthy, God takes the wealth away and gives it to those who please him. This, too, ismeaningless—like chasing the wind.
Have you ever wondered how you could have just a portion of the joy that you see in certain people? If so, Scripture has good news for you. Joy doesn't go to the best or the brightest. You don't have to outwork and out last all of the others. Joy is a gift from God to all those who are pleasing in His sight.
How can we be pleasing in His sight? Scripture tells us that all the Lord asks of us is that we do what is right, that we show mercy, and that we walk humbly with Him (Micah 6:8). Thatis what the Lord asks of us: justice, mercy, and humility. We are pleasing in His sight when we exhibit these qualities. Then He gives us wisdom, knowledge, and joy.
When we feel ourselves a little lacking in joy, let's ask God to reveal ways we can be pleasing in His sight.
