DAILY DEVOTION:
"THE POWER OF OBEDIENCE SUPERSEDES ALL ELSE ..."
1 Corinthians 1:26-28
The Passion Translation
26 Brothers and sisters, consider who you were when God called you to salvation. Not many of you were wise scholars by human standards, nor were many of you in positions of power. Not many of you were considered the elite when you answered God’s call. 27 But God chose those whom the world considers foolish to shame those who think they are wise, and God chose the puny and powerless to shame[a] the high and mighty. 28 He chose the lowly, the laughable[b] in the world’s eyes—nobodies—so that he would shame the somebodies. For he chose what is regarded as insignificant in order to supersede what is regarded as prominent,
A quick look at the disciples, Jesus chose shows us that God does not always choose those who seem to be qualified. It doesn’t matter what gifts, talents, experiences you feel like you lack—God will provide all the teaching and training you need to do what He has called you to.
It is not always conventional, but God will prepare you in whatever way He chooses. Sometimes it is formal training, but often it is not. God will use everything in your life to train you if you are willing to be trained.
It’s sad to say that many people have great callings on their lives, but they are too impatient to go through the preparation that is necessary to equip them for the job.
Esther had to have a year of preparation before she was allowed to go before the king. For twelve months, she patiently went through the purifying process, and God used her to save her people from wicked Haman’s evil plot. If you’re feeling under-qualified for something you believe God is calling you to do, don’t let that stop you. He will be your trainer.
Learn what He is teaching you during this season, and be ready to step out when the opportunity arises. God will equip you for the vision He has given you.
